ArtsTech is about bettering the lives of at-risk urban youth through the development of marketable artistic and technical skills. ArtsTech accomplishes this by operating a center for youth enterprise and building collaborative partnerships that use art and technology as educational tools for the benefit of youth in the community. We as a whole are glued to the idea that change can be inspired through arts. ArtsTech with a communicative attitude surrounding the fact that youths at risk need an outlet and through the arts it can happen.
Originally called Pan Educational Institute, PEI began serving local schools and communities
by providing quality professional development classes for educators and supporting health and safety prevention initiatives.
During the 1980’s, PEI added comprehensive technology services to its professional resources.
Integrating technology with classroom learning and the arts.
Educational technology continues to be a major organizational focus.
In March 2006 PEI left its Independence home of more than 25 years and moved to downtown Kansas City between the Art Crossroads and the Power and Light District.
In May 2007 represents a grand day with the unveiling of a new name, new vision, and new opportunities. Our vision is for young artists and technicians to develop their talents and market their products and services, for after-school art and technology programs to flourish, for a center where community artists will create and market their art, and ultimately, and to become a community asset where every resident benefits from the work and energy emanating from ArtsTech.
