Computer Redistribution Program
"Share the Wealth, Share the Power"

How it Works

The process is initiated by a letter from the service provider agency explaining the need (school, health, medical, social). An example might be to assist a disabled individual attain independence and potential earning opportunities, perhaps. Another might be to help a student achieve educational goals. The requesting agency is asked to provide, in their request letter, information about their student, client, or group, identifying the computer need. The agency must also supply information about potential financial support available to defray costs.

Upon receipt of the request, the order is placed in a process file by date to be filled as soon as possible. Most requests are handled within a four-to-five week period. The requesting agency or the client is called to arrange a pickup date of the equipment.

ArtsTech refurbishes the donated telecommunications equipment for redistribution to the disadvantaged, "at-risk" populations, schools, teachers in need, or other non-profit agencies. The equipment is put in good working condition before being placed in service. When redistributed, the machines are ready to plug, load, and play in their "new" environment.

To offset the shipping and refurbishing expenses, agencies, clients, or sponsors are often asked for donations to maintain the program.
